20 Athletes to Represent Canada at the YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2022

Team Canada heads to the YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2022 in San Salvador, El Salvador
 

From April 26-29 2022, Canada will compete in the XXV YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador! Hosted by Badminton Pan America, 20 Canadian athletes will be in pursuit of the 2022 Pan Am Championship title! 

The athletes representing Team Canada are:

In this competition, Canada's young sensation Brian Yang, who is seeded first, will try to defend his Men's Singles title against top pan-American players such as Kevin Cordon (GUA), Jason Ho-Shue (CAD), and Ygor Coelho (BRA). Michelle Li (CAD), seeded first in the Women's Singles, returns to the continental competition to defend the title she lost to Beiwen Zhang (USA) last year. In Women's Doubles, defending champions Rachel Honderich and Kristen Tsai (CAD) are the favourites to defend their title, although they will face high-level opponents such as Catherine Choi/Josephine Wu (CAD), Jaqueline Lima/Samia Lima (BRA), and Nikte Sotomayor/Diana Corleto (GUA).

"We are proud to have such a strong group of athletes competing in this year's Pan Am Championships" said Mike Luck, High-Performance Director at Badminton Canada. "This will be an exciting challenge for our young group of Next Gen athletes as compete alongside several of our Tokyo Olympians."

Pressure to perform is on, and we know our athletes are ready for the challenge."
