Bidding Opens for the 2026 YONEX Canadian International Challenge

Ottawa, ON – Badminton Canada is excited to announce that bidding is now open for the opportunity to host the 2026 YONEX Canadian International Challenge, one of Canada’s premier international badminton events. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available starting January 12, 2026, and bids must be submitted no later than February 27, 2026.

The YONEX Canadian International Challenge is a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Grade 3 event, part of the Badminton Pan Am Continental Circuit, and serves as a key developmental pathway for Canadian athletes while offering valuable World Ranking Points.

"The 2026 YONEX Canadian International Challenge is an integral part of the Badminton Canada development pathway and an excellent event to watch the best Canadian players take on challengers from around the world,” shares Badminton Canada Executive Director, Bryan Merrett, “This event will deliver an exciting brand of badminton. International participants will invigorate and animate the host community offering entertainment, while Canadian players will inspire the next generation and generate community pride!”

The 2026 edition is scheduled for December 1-6, 2026 (Week 49) and will feature five events: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The tournament will attract top international players, officials, and fans.
