Recap: XXXIII Pan American Junior Championships 2025

53 of Canada's top junior athletes competed at the 2025 Pan Am Individual Championships from July 10-18, 2025
From July 10 to 28, 2025 - 53 athletes and 6 coaches participated in the 2025 XXXIII Pan Am Junior Championships in Lima, Peru. The athletes competed against the top Junior athletes in Pan America for a chance to win Team and Individual titles.
Full Junior National Team Roster
In the first days of competition, Team Canada was placed into Group B of the Team Event (U19) alongside El Salvador and Peru. Winning every match in their pool (5-0), Canada moved on to play Guatemala where they came out on top, winning a quick (3-0) in the Quarter-Finals;
- Rongpeng Zhou & Lucy Yang (XD, 21-5, 21-3)
- Yanqing Wang (BS, 21-4, 21-5)
- Mengyao Tian (GS, 21-3, 21-5)
The Semi-Final mathcup featured Team Canada taking on Brazil for a place in the Finals, where Canada would again win a decisive 3-0.
- Rongpeng Zhou & Emma Meng (XD, 21-10, 21-15)
- Asher Bedi (BS, 21-15, 21-6)
- Emma Meng (21-4, 21-11)
In the finals, Team Canada faced defendiong Champions, Team USA. Despite a strong effort from Team Canada in the Finals, Team USA took home gold with a Championship performance, with Canada claiming silver:
- Rongpeng Zhou & Katie Lau (XD, loss, 9-21, 9-21)
- Emma Meng (GS, win, 21-14, 21-15)
- Yanqing Wang (BS, loss, 13-21, 19-21)
- Katie Lau & Emma Meng (WD, loss, 9-21, 16-21)
In the following days, Canada competed in the Individual Event (U13 / U15 / U17 / U19) where they were able to secure an outstanding NIONI medals including 4 Gold, 7 Silver, and 18 Bronze.
