Badminton Canada announces Anil Kaul as new President

Two new Directors at Large also elected.

Badminton Canada announces Anil Kaul as new President

 

Ottawa ON. – Effective July 1st, 2015, Mr. Anil Kaul will assume the presidency of Badminton Canada after being elected by the organizations membership on June 14. Mr. Kaul replaces Mr. Peter Golding who completed the final year of his mandate as president of Badminton Canada.

Anil brings to Badminton Canada extensive leadership experience and success, garnered through a dynamic career both on and off the court. On the court, Anil has represented Canada twice at the Olympics (1992 Barcelona & 1996 Atlanta), was a 5 time Canadian Champion and won a gold and silver medal at the 1995 Pan Am Games. Off the court, but in the badminton world, Mr. Kaul was a founding member of the Badminton Canada Players Association and served as its president between 1994 and 1997. He has also previously served on the Badminton Canada for a total of eight years as Vice President of High Performance and Executive Secretary. Mr. Kaul is currently a consultant in the Innovations Division at Norima Consulting.

“We are extremely pleased that Anil will be leading our organization,” said outgoing president Peter Golding. “Anil has been involved with our sport and organization for over 35 in various roles and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role.”

 

“I am proud to represent Badminton Canada, with whom I have been involved for over 35 years, and a sport that has given so much to me.” said Anil Kaul “I  am honoured and do not take this responsibility lightly as I realize there are many challenges ahead, but I know that as a united community we can overcome anything.”

 

Also elected June 14 and assuming their roles as Directors at Large on the Badminton Canada Board of Directors on July 1st, 2015 are Ms. Ashley Sceviour and Mr. Gilles LeBlanc. Both have extensive experience in the sport as players, organizers and volunteers and are currently both National Level Officials. They replace Mr. Remi Beaulieu and Mr. Pieric Langlais on the Board of Directors, as both did not seek re-election.

 

“Both Ashley and Gilles offer a wealth of experience that will greatly benefit Badminton Canada.” indicated incoming president Anil Kaul. “While replacing Remi and Pieric will be difficult; our new board members are up to the challenge.”
