Recap: XXX Pan Am Junior Championships 2022

Badminton Canada's National Junior Team athletes competed at the 2022 XXX Pan Am Junior Championships, July 12-22 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
From July 12 to 22, 282 athletes including 49 Canadians participated in the XXX Pan American Junior Championships 2022 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The championship kicked off with a team competition where the best U19 athletes from each country competed in a best-of-five series. Canada was seeded in Group A along with the United States and Mexico. The team's first match against Mexico ended in a convincing 5-0 win. The next day they played the USA and were defeated in a close 2-3 series. Despite this loss, Team Canada qualified for the playoffs and won their first match against Peru in 3 games, scoring 3-0.
With this win, the Canadian team qualified for the final of the team competition and for a chance at revenge against the American team. Team Canada lost the first 2 games of the series but held on until the end, winning the next 2 games and forcing a 3rd set in the final game. Unfortunately, Team Canada was defeated 2-3, but still, put up a great fight and won a very well-earned silver medal.
Two days after the team competition, the individual events started for the U13, U15, U17 and U19 athletes. Of all these athletes, 28 athletes won medals in Friday's finals. Once again, Team Canada performed well and captured 26 medals in singles and doubles, including 9 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze.
