Badminton Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Janice Dawson, ChPC to the position of Sport Programs Officer. The appointment will be effective as of January 11, 2021 and will focus upon managing Safe Sport education and activities, supporting BCan’s Gender Equity and Inclusion initiatives, and servicing our national events and programs such as NCCP and Officials Development.

 

Janice Dawson joins Badminton Canada with a wealth of experience from many multi-sport and national sport federations. Over the past decade she has fulfilled roles as; Director, Sport Development with Speed Skating Canada, Manager of Sport for the 2021 Canada Summer Games in Niagara, and was a member of Team Ontario’s Mission Staff for both the 2017 & 2019 Canada Games. In addition to her sport management experiences, Dawson is a Level 3 Goalball Referee for the International Blind Sports Federation, working events such as the 2018 IBSA World Goalball Championships and was the Technical Delegate for the 2015 Parapan American Games.

 

“We are pleased to have Janice join the Badminton Canada team” said Executive Director, Joe Morissette. “Her experience as a sport manager combined with her skillset as a technical leader in Para-sport result in a well-rounded individual to lead Badminton Canada’s strategies for Safe Sport education and sport program development.”

 

"I am thrilled to join the Badminton Canada community and I am excited to embark on this new challenge” said Dawson. “I am looking forward to working collaboratively with everyone at Badminton Canada towards a number of objectives including Safe Sport program development, in addition to supporting our national badminton programs throughout the country."

 

This new position at the national organization exemplifies Badminton Canada’s commitment to the safety and well-being of our athletes and communities, and the future of badminton in Canada.
