Events

As the health and safety measures related to COVID-19 continue to progress, Badminton Canada and their stakeholders continue to work closely with respective government and health partners to monitor the situation of COVID-19 as it fluctuates across the country. Badminton Canada would like to update the greater badminton community at this time on the status of domestic events hosted in Canada in December 2020 and January 2021.

 

Due to the uncertainty of when sporting events and large gatherings of people will resume, the status of the following list of domestic events is the following:

1. 2020 YONEX Alberta Elite – Edmonton, AB – December 4-6, 2020 - Postponed

 

2. 2021 YONEX Ontario Elite – Toronto, ON – January 8-10, 2021 - Canceled

 

3. 2021 YONEX Quebec Junior Elite – Gatineau, QC – January 15-17, 2020 - Postponed 

 

“Badminton Canada is nearing a year of monitoring the status of COVID-19, while working with our government and health partners for over 8 months” said Executive Director, Joe Morissette.

 

“The health and safety of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, delegates, and the greater badminton community continue to be our top priority. Due to the escalading situation related to COVID-19, we must make the tough decision to postpone and cancel some events at this time under the direction of the health and safety measures in place by our government officials. For those that remain as scheduled, we will continue to monitor the situation and update our communities accordingly.”
