COVID-19 Update on Events

Badminton Canada postpones all September events

As the health and safety measures related to COVID-19 continue to progress and our country slowly begins to open, Badminton Canada and its provincial associations continue to work closely with the respective government and health agencies to ensure we are returning to play in a safe manner. Badminton Canada would like to update the greater badminton community at this time on the status of the domestic national level events hosted in Canada for September 2020.

“Badminton Canada has been monitoring the status of COVID-19 for many months with our government and health partners” said Executive Director, Joe Morissette. “The health and safety of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, delegates, and the greater badminton community are our top priority. Due to the health and safety concerns of hosting events of large numbers, along with varying provincial travel restrictions, it is still premature to host a national level event at this time.”

Badminton Canada is working diligently with the tournament hosts to find alternate dates for the respective Elite and Championship events, and will keep all respective groups informed as more updated become available. Badminton Canada understands that athletes, clubs, and coaches are all eager to return to competition, however the health and safety of the community will remain the top priority.
