2020 YONEX Canada Open Postponed

The 2020 edition of the YONEX Canada Open has been postponed

Badminton Canada in collaboration with Badminton Alberta, Tourism Calgary and the Badminton World Federation, collectively announce the postponement of the YONEX Canada Open 2020 BWF Tour Super 100.

The event was initially set to take place from June 30th to July 5th, 2020 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport in Calgary, Alberta. Due to the health and safety concerns related to COVID-19 and the rapidly changing health measures internationally and in Canada, the event has been officially postponed until further notice.

“As our knowledge and safety measures related to COVID-19 continue to evolve, we must reassess the status of our events for the heathy and safety of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, delegates, and the greater Calgary community” said Executive Director of Badminton Canada, Joe Morissette. “At this time, we are postponing the 2020 edition of the YONEX Canada Open and will continue to work closely with Badminton Alberta, the BWF, and government health officials to potentially return to Calgary as early as the fall of 2020.”

“Badminton Alberta fully supports the limitations that have been established by health authorities and recognizes that our event cannot be held as planned” said Executive Director of Badminton Alberta, Jeff Bell.  “We definitely look forward to bringing world class badminton back to Alberta and are working to secure future dates for events.”
