Postponed - 2020 YONEX Canadian International Challenge

Due to the health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, the event has been officially postponed until further notice.

On March 13th, 2020 Badminton Canada in collaboration with the Government of Canada, Alberta Health Services, the Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and the support of the Badminton World Federation, have collectively announced the postponement of the YONEX Canadian International Challenge 2020.

The event was initially set to take place from March 31st to April 5th, 2020 at MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray, Alberta. However, due to the health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, and the rapidly changing health measures in Canada and globally, the event has been officially postponed until further notice.

“Badminton Canada has been monitoring the status of COVID-19 for many months” said Executive Director, Joe Morissette. “The health and safety of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, delegates, and the greater Fort McMurray community are our top priority. Due to the escalading situation related to COVID-19, we cannot comment when the event will resume, but we are committed to returning to Fort McMurray in the near future.
