Michelle Li Nominated for the BWF Most Improved Player of the Year Award

Michelle Li has been nominated for the BWF Player of the Year Awards in Most Improved Player of the Year category.

Michelle Li is the only Pan Am player among the nominees and is currently 8th in the BWF ranking. Michelle has had a very strong showing this year at International events. She won gold at the XXlll Pan Am individual Championships 2019, Pan Am games Lima 2019, 2019 Total BWF Sudirman Cup and the Macau Open 2019. Michelle also had a silver place finish at the 2019 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open. 

Michelle is nominated for the Most Improved Player of Year along with:

  • Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (Men’s Doubles, India)
  • Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong (Women’s Doubles, Korea)
  • Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti (Mixed Doubles, Indonesia)

 

The BWF awards recognise the achievements of the world's most elite badminton players and pairs in six categories, including two Para badmintion categories. These nominations are based on the athletes performace throughout the year and selected by the BWF Awards Commission board. 

The BWF awards will be presented at the opening ceremony and gala dinner of the second edition of the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals. The awards take place on December 9th in Guangzhou, China.
