Russia Bound for the 2019 World Junior Championships

The Championships will take place from 30 September to 13 October 2019 in Kazan Russia.

The BWF World Junior Championships is held annually and consists of two separate competitions: a mixed team championships for the Suhandinata Cup followed by an individual championships for the Eye Level Cups – all hosted over 12 days and attracting up to 50 teams and 400 players from around the world.

The Championships provides badminton fans with a first glimpse of the stars of the future. The World Junior Championship is the first opportunity for talented young badminton players to represent their country in a world class event. It is also an opportunity to experience top level competition and put them on the pathway towards becoming one of the stars of the future.

Representing Canada on the Yonex Junior National Team will inlcude top 5 World Junior Ranked in Men's Singles, Brian Yang, and top 15 in Women's Singles, Talia Ng. Joining them at the World Junior Championships and competing for the Suhandinata Cup are members of the Pan Am Junior Championship Team, that won gold this summer in Moncton, NB and lead by National Team Head Coach, Mike Butler.

These athletes will look to build on their performances last year when they played here in Canada, at the Markham Pan Am Centre.

 

"We are excited about the potential of our Yonex Junior National Team at the World Junior's this year" said Mike Butler, National Team Head Coach. "We have a strong group of athletes that I believe can better our performance in the Team Event, and on the individual side, we have some very promising athletes that can make it through to some final rounds."
