From April 23-28 2019, Canada will compete in the XXIII Pan Am Individual Championships in Aguas Calientes, Mexico! Hosted by Badminton Pan Am, 17 Canadian athletes will be in pursuit of the 2019 Pan Am Championship title! 

The athletes representing Team Canada are:

Women's Doubles:

Catherine Choi/Josephine Wu - ON/AB

Mixed Doubles:

Jason Ho-Shue and Nyl Yakura will seek their fourth Pan-American title in Men’s Doubles. The Canadian duo could once again face Phillip Chew and Ryan Chew repeating last year’s final. Michelle Li starts as favorite to add a new gold medal, however she will have to face Britney Tam (CAN), Champion in 2016, Crystal Pan (USA), Daniela Macias (PER), Fabiana Silva (BRA), among others. These days, Michelle is recovering from an injury that took her away from the BWF Tour a few weeks ago but hopes to have a great comeback at Pan Am Individual 2019.

"We are thrilled to have such a talented group of athletes at this year's Pan Am Championships" said Jordan Bridal, High-Performance Director at Badminton Canada. "We are setting an aggressive goal of winning every event, and we are confident we have the players to do it. Heading into the Olympic qualifying period, this will be a great test for our Canadian athletes."
