Badminton Canada and SJBC agree to sport exchange

The agreement will feature cultural and sport exchanges between Canada and China

Ottawa ON – Badminton Canada and SportsLine Junior Badminton Development Corporation (SJBC) have reached an agreement to foster both cultural and sport exchanges between Canada and China.

The partnership will initially start in July 2019 with a Canada-China Junior Badminton Exchange program that will be held annually. The 2019 exchange will feature Chinese badminton athletes from the Shanghai Badminton Association and will be touring Eastern Canada for 2 weeks; the 1st week will be in Toronto/Markham, Ontario, the 2nd week will be in Montreal, Quebec. During their time, the athletes will attend a joint training camp with members of the Canadian Junior National Badminton Team based in the area.

“We hope that through an annual Canada-China Junior Badminton Exchange, both Canadian and Chinese junior badminton athletes can learn from each other as well as share each other’s cultures”, stated Mr. Yi Jin, chairman of the Board of Directors for SJBC. “We are certain that the plans in 2019 will be successful and that more events and exchanges will occur in the future.”

“Badminton Canada is pleased to partner with SJBC on this initiative” stated Anil Kaul, President of Badminton Canada. “We see this as an excellent opportunity to provide our junior athletes and coaches with new experiences and an opportunity to share with athletes and coaches from China.”
