The Glencoe Club to Host 2019 Yonex National Championships

Canada's best athletes to compete at The Glencoe Club from January 30-Feb 2 2019

The city of Calgary is set to host the 2019 Yonex Canadian National Badminton Championships at The Glencoe Club at the end of January 2019. With over 100 of Canada’s top High-Performance athletes anticipated to be in attendance, Badminton Canada in partnership with the Glencoe Club are pleased to welcome the badminton community to Calgary, Alberta.

 

Initially set to be hosted at The RA Centre in Ottawa, The Glencoe Club has graciously volunteered to host the annual National Championships for 2019. This will allow the RA Centre and the City of Ottawa to focus on the National Championship in advance of the 2020 Olympic year.

 

“The Glencoe club is very excited for the opportunity to support badminton on the National level by hosting the 2019 Yonex Canadian National Championships from January 30 - February 2, 2019” said Chris Jennings, Athletic Manager at the Glencoe Club. “The tournament is sure to attract Canada's top Badminton athletes, and will act as a great lead up event for some, approaching the Canada Games happening in Red Deer shortly after. We look forward to welcoming the Badminton Canada community to the Glencoe Club, and providing them and our members an exceptional experience!”

With reigning national champions like, Jason Ho-Shue (ON), Nyl Yakura (ON), Kristen Tsai (BC), and top 16 in the world Michelle Li (ON) set to be in attendance, the National Championships will showcase badminton at the highest level in Canada.

Looking ahead to 2020, we are excited to be hosting the Championships at The RA Centre in our Nation’s Capital.”
