City of Moncton to Host the 2019 Pan American Junior Badminton Championships

The 2019 Pan American Junior Championships are coming to Moncton, New Brunswick!

Ottawa, Ontario - Badminton Canada and Badminton New Brunswick (BNNB) are thrilled to announce that the 2019 Junior Pan American Badminton Championships will be held at the Centre d’Education Physique et des Sports (CEPS Louis. Robichaud) at University of Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada from July 11th- 20th 2019.
 

At a recent meeting in Bangkok Thailand, the Pan American Badminton Confederation accepted the bid presented by Badminton Canada to host the XXVIII Pan American Junior Championships in July of 2019. The event will feature the Pan Am Junior Mixed Team Championships, followed by the Individual Pan Am Junior Championships (U19, U17, U15, U13, U11). 
 

“We look forward to a wonderful tournament with the best junior players from our region competing and engaging with each other” said Mr. Vishu Tolan, President Pan Am Badminton Confederation. “These events are great exposure for our next generation of stars and it will be exciting to see the young talents getting ready to compete and represent their county.”
 

Badminton New Brunswick and the City of Moncton have recently played host to many national level tournaments, like the Canadian Junior National Badminton Championships in 2012, ’16 and ’17; the first ever Canadian Para-badminton National Championships in 2016, and a Canadian International Challenge in 2011. By working closely with the City of Moncton and the University of Moncton, BNNB is committed to delivering world-class events. 
 

“Badminton New Brunswick cannot express how excited we were to hear the wonderful news that we have been awarded the 2019 Pan Am Junior Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick” said Daryl Beers, Vice-President of Badminton New Brunswick. “We have worked so hard over the last decade hosting 3 Junior National Championships, a Badminton World Federation International Challenge, and many Yonex Elite and Yonex Junior Elite Series events.”

 

“The Pan American Junior Championships will be a very special honour for Badminton New Brunswick because Moncton was the host city of the very first Pan American Championships back in 1977” he continued, “now, forty-two years later the Pan American Junior Championships will be hosted in Moncton.”
 

“We are thrilled to welcome elite badminton athletes from across the Americas to Moncton during the Pan American Junior Badminton Championships in the summer of 2019”, says Mayor Dawn Arnold. “Our city is well positioned to put on this event with excellence and success thanks to the ongoing support of important partners, dedicated event organizers and passionate volunteers. We are grateful Moncton was selected to host this world-class sporting event and we look forward to hosting it next year.”
