XXI Pan American Championships Mixed Team Event 2017: Team Canada!

Badminton Canada is pleased to announce the list of athletes to represent Canada at the XXI Pan American Championships Mixed Team Event 2017

OTTAWA, ON –

Badminton Canada is pleased to announce the list of athletes to represent Canada at the XXI Pan American Championships Mixed Team Event 2017 being held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from February 16 - 19, 2017. This year, the Pan Am Championships Mixed Team Event will include six countries from across the Pan Am region: USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, and the host Dominican Republic. The team competition format will be played in Sudirman Cup style (MS, WS, MD, WD, XD). For more information on the event, please visit: http://www.badmintonpanam.org/.  

“We are so excited and congratulate this young group of athletes representing Canada at the 2017 Pan Am Championship Mixed Team Event in Dominican Republic,” said Joe Morissette, Executive Director for Badminton Canada. “This event will be a great opportunity to compete versus our Pan Am neighbors and defend our Championship title from last year’s event in Brazil!”

This year, Team Canada set the highest objectives once again and aim to defend their Pan Am title. Badminton Canada based its selection criteria on our top athletes’ rankings and final points standing within the 2016-2017 season.

The list of athletes representing Canada at the XXI Pan American Championships Mixed Team Event 2017 are the following:

Ladies: Michelle Tong (Markham, ON), Stéphanie Pakenham (Quebec City, QC), Josephine Wu (Edmonton, AB), Brittney Tam (Markham, ON) and Anne-Julie Beaulieu (Quebec City, QC).

Gents: Jason Ho-Shue (Markham, ON), Phillipe Gaumond (Saint-Hyacinthe, QC), Nyl Yakura (Pickering, ON) and Maxime Marin (Montreal, QC).

Team Canada athletes will be accompanied by two coaches during the event: Micheal Butler and Andrew Dabeka.
