The 2022 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships are underway!

Six Canadian athletes are competing at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships this week.

The BWF Para-Badminton World Championships are being held this week from November 1, 2022, to November 6, 2022, at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

 

The BWF Para-Badminton World Championships is an individual bi-annual event where the highest-ranked para-badminton players compete in six sport classes in five categories.

 

The six following athletes and coaches will be representing Canada at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships:

 

Athletes

William Roussy – SL3 - Quebec

Wyatt Lightfoot – SH6 - Saskatchewan

Justin Kendrick – SH6 - Ontario

Mikhail Bilenky – WH1 - British Columbia

Yuka Chokyu – WH1 - British Columbia

Rishav Sharma – SU5 - British Columbia

 

Coach

Frank Gaudet - Saskatchewan

 

“We are very excited to be at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships again this year,” said Frank Gaudet, Para-Badminton National Coach. “We look forward to our athletes competing amongst the best para-badminton athletes in the world. This event is a great opportunity for our athletes to shine on the international stage. We are confident they will proudly represent our country, on and off the court.”  

 

Athlete selected for the BWF Para-badminton World Championships 2022 and we unable to attend include; Olivia Meier (MB), Pascal Lapointe (QC), Richard Peter (BC), and Bernard Lapointe (NB).
