Badminton Canada Players Association Elects New Members

The BCPA met at the end of January to elect new members

The Badminton Canada Players Association (BCPA) is a volunteer organization whose main function is to serve as a tool by which Badminton Canada may support high performance badminton athletes in Canada to develop their potential and achieve their professional goals. The purpose of the BCPA is to understand, educate, promote and further the interests of 'high performance' badminton players in Canada. To monitor and suggest improvements to the arrangements connected with Badminton Canada events; and generally; to promote the sport of badminton in Canada.

The BCPA met at the 2020 YONEX Canadian National Badminton Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba to vote in new members:

Johnathan Akin-Mulrooney – President

Josephine Wu – Vice President

Br Sankeerth – Vice President

Pascal Lapointe - Vice President

“I am looking forward to the next 2 years as President of the BCAN Players Association" said newly elected President, Johnathan Akin-Mulrooney. "I am committed to working with the athletes and Badminton Canada for the betterment of our sport"

The first order of business for the new members of the BCPA will be to amend the constitution to include Para-badminton athletes. Pascal Lapointe is currenty serving as the interim Vice President of Para-badminton, elected by his fellow para-badminton athletes.

"Badminton Canada is committed to working shoulder to shoulder with the BCPA" said Executive Director, Joe Morissette. "We are confident in the abilities of the newly elected BCPA representivies to well represent high-performance badminton across Canada!
