Welcoming a new addition to Badminton Canada

Badminton Canada is proud to welcome Michael Luck as Events & Communiations Officer

Ottawa, ON – Badminton Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Luck as Events & Communications, Officer. Luck will oversee the digital marketing and communications within the organization, as well as help organize domestic and international events. As this is a new position in the organization, Luck will work closely with Chief Executive Officer, Joe Morisette, and High Performance Manager, Jordan Bridal in order to ensure the best for Badminton Canada and its athletes.

Luck joins the organization with many years of experience in sport, both as a high-performance athlete, as well as a sport management professional. With over 10 years’ experience competing at the national level for swimming, Luck has participated in multiple Canadian Olympic Trials, World Trials, Canada Games, as well as proud member of the McGill University Swim Team throughout his studies. Luck’s experience in high-performance athletics will help Badminton Canada relate to their athletes in ensuring they are receiving the fullest support.

Having recently completed a Master’s degree at the University of Ottawa, Luck is specialized in marketing and communication strategies within the Canadian amateur sport system. Having worked with organizations such as Water-polo Canada, Sail Canada, and the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Luck looks to apply his talents to managing Badminton Canada’s marketing and communications.

“We are very excited to bring Michael on board while we continue to grow the organization” said Joe Morissette, “his experience being a national level athlete, along with working directly with many national sport organizations will be a valuable addition to our events and marketing departments.”

The feeling is mutual as Luck is eager to start working with Badminton Canada.

“I am truly honored to be joining the organization. This is an incredible opportunity to be working at a world class organization that I am grateful to be a part of” said Luck. “I am very excited to be working diligently to ensure Badminton Canada is doing the best possible for their athletes and communities.”

Luck will be attending Badminton Canada’s U23/Junior National Championships in Moncton, NB later this May, as well as the 2017 Yonex Canadian Open in Calgary, AB in July.
