2018 Club Champions U15/U17/U19/U23

Badminton Canada is looking for ways to grow the sport and provide additional recognition of the top clubs in Canada. To that end, we are proposing a trial at the 2018 U23/Junior National Championship where clubs would earn points based on the success of their athletes in each age group.

For the 2018 Junior National Championship, Badminton Canada would present 4 banners. The banners would be for:

  • U23 Age Group
  • U19 Age Group
  • U17 Age Group
  • U15 Age Group

Points are accumulated by athletes on behalf of their club for each 1st, 2nd, Semi Finalist and Consolation Round Winner placing team at the U23/Junior National Championship.  Points will be awarded the following way:

    • Main Round 1st place team receives 100 points
    • Main Round 2nd place team receives 75 points
    • Main Round 3rd or Semi-finalist of Main Round receives 50 points
  • Consolation Round winner receives 30 points

*Doubles pairs from two different clubs will split the points between them (ex. Main Round 1st Place - 50/50)

In the event of a tie in points, the tie breaker will be (in order of importance):

  1. Most 1st place finishes in the respective age group
  2. Most 2nd place finishes in the respective age group

If at this time there is still a tie, the clubs will be selected as co-Club Champions
